Trivet made of Cherry wood
Most wooden trivets will be made from one solid piece of wood. While it sounds nice, there are disadvantages to this method. A solid piece of wood will be affected by humidity and other factors, which will have an immediate impact on a piece's integrity including warping and other deformities. Our trivet is constructed from alternating strips of wood (always from the same board) rather than using just one solid piece, which is an important distinction between other less expensive products and ours. This process is called "laminating". With our meticulous laminating process, we arrange the grains of the wood opposite of one another to counteract expansion and contraction that happens naturally from exposure to the elements and of course from the occasional spills from your pots and pans. While this requires many additional steps in constructing the trivet, we think it's absolutely critical to deliver the best product. We design all of our products to be heirloom pieces which will live through the generations of your family.
